A Timeless Toast Rack from Kanaya Hotel

金谷ホテルの倉庫で大切に保管されていた、年代物のトーストラックです。
かつて包まれていた紙には、「金谷ホテル様 トーストラック 六個」と記されていました。

焼きたてのトーストを立てて並べることで、サクサクとした食感を保つための道具です。
中央の取っ手は、食卓への持ち運びを楽にするための工夫です。
このトーストラックがいつ頃から当ホテルで使われているかを示す記録は残っていませんが、
長い歴史を持つこの道具が、現在も朝食のひとときを彩っています。

Discovered in the Kanaya Hotel's warehouse, this is a vintage toast rack that was preserved with great care. The original wrapping paper was labeled, "For Kanaya Hotel: six toast racks."
Toast racks are designed to keep toast warm and crisp by holding the slices upright, preventing them from becoming soggy. The central handle makes it easy to carry the toast to the dining table. We don't have a record of exactly when this piece came into use at the hotel, but this timeless tool, rich with history, still graces our breakfast tables today.
