大正２年９月、古川電気興業は、日本で初めて天皇陛下を民間企業としてお迎えするという光栄に輝きました。この慶事を祝し、関係者一同の喜びと、今後の発展を祈念して始まった日光和楽踊りは、時を超え、今もなお多くの市民に愛され、踊り続けられています。

当ホテルでも、外国からのゲストのために、古くから文化体験として開催されたようです。
残っている記録写真から、その場面を少しご紹介いたします。
昔は、おなじみのロータリーだけではなく、室内やなんと竜宮でも。

金谷ホテルが日光とともに歩んできたことを実感させる光景です。


In September 1913 (Taisho 2), Furukawa Electric Industries was honored as the first private company in Japan to welcome the Emperor. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, and with hopes for future prosperity, the Nikko Waraku Odori began. It has transcended time and is still beloved and actively danced by many Nikko citizens today.

Our hotel also seems to have hosted this as a cultural experience for guests from overseas since long ago. From the remaining historical photographs, we would like to share a glimpse of those scenes. In the past, it took place not only in the familiar rotary but also indoors and even at Ryugu (a mythical underwater palace)!

These scenes truly make one feel the history of the Kanaya Hotel walking hand-in-hand with Nikko.
